The Przestrzeń Filmowa foundation, in collaboration with the capital
city of Warsaw, takes pleasure in inviting film-makers to participate in
an international lab, which will link the two capitals: Warsaw and
Berlin. We are on the lookout for directors and producers who: live and
work in Warsaw; have brought into existence at least two short films—out
of which at least one, falling into the category of documentary,
animated, or feature film, has already been presented on festivals; and
have conceived a project of their first or second full-length film
(currently, at the late development, pre-production, or production
stage) which they would like to develop and finalise in the years
2017–2018.
Nowadays, self-promotion is key to everything. To achieve
international success, apart from undoubted talent and knowledge in the
field they’ve received their education and work in, every author should
get the chance to acquire theoretical and practical skills to find their
way in the international world of co-producers, distributors, and sales
agents. 10 participants of the Film Lab Warszawa–Berlin program will be
given the opportunity to take part in pitching workshops. 4 of them,
selected by the Polish commission, will then go to the 67. Berlinale and
European Film Market to get a grasp of its behind the scenes.
Before we meet in Berlin, international judges:
based on the submissions, will select 10 film-makers who will then be invited to participate in a two-day workshop with Aleksandra Leszczyńska—an
expert with over a decade’s experience in the film industry
specialising in development and financing of film projects, as well as a
moderator of industry panels and young film-makers’ coach. During the
training, to take place in the Mazovian Cultural Institute on
14–15.01.2017, the participants will become familiar with how the
European film market works, find out how to seek financing for their
film, and when they should submit their work to a festival (and how to
make the right choice). Aleksandra will walk the participants through
the secrets of pitching and prepare them to present their projects to
the commission, whose members will be announced soon.
The finalists and the organisers of the project will stay at the 67.
Berlinale and European Film Market between 10 and 15 Feb 2017.
Before you submit your project, please read the terms and conditions
carefully, download and fill out the form, and then send all the
required documents to kontakt(at)przestrzenfilmowa.org by 11:59 pm of
29.12.2016. Please type in „Zgłoszenie Film Lab Warszawa–Berlin” in the
subject line of your email.
NOTE: We will accept only the submissions that fully comply with the terms and conditions.
The names of the 10 film-makers qualified to participate in the
workshop will be published on the website and in the Facebook event by
11.01.2017.
