Anna and Jaroslaw Iwasczkiewicz Museum in Stawisko

Stawisko – name of an estate of 18 ha, that belonged to a writer, Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz in 1928-1980 and as of 1980 a Museum of Anna and Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz in Stawisko. In the 1930’s Stawisko became an art and literature center, hosting many fine creators of the time, e.g. Karol Szymanowski, Antoni Słonimski, Jan Lechoń i Julian Tuwim. Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewcz wrote many of his pieces in Stawisko. During WWII and German Ocupation, Stawisko (isolted from other towns) became an exile for many artists, just to give an example: Czesław Miłosz, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Leon Schiller, Pola Gojawiczyńska i Witold Lutosławski.
